NutriSystem
Diet Review
NutriSystem started out as a weight loss center-based diet
program, like Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig, but has now
repositioned itself as an online weight-management program.
The NutriSystem promotes the consumption of pre-packaged meals
based on balanced nutrition (60 percent carbs, 20 percent protein,
20 percent fat) which are convenient for controlling portion size,
but not ideal when it comes to preparing the dieter for making
healthful food choices once the diet ends. It also raises the cost
of the diet program.
True, as you get closer to your goal, you are weaned off the
nutrisystem diet foods and you start making your own meals, but
you must pay close attention to this part of the NutriSystem diet
program in order to maintain your weight loss in the long term.
The cost of the NutriSystem diet program is $68.74 per week and
includes:
- 1 week of food
- Once a week counseling
- Online nutrition classes
- Member newsletter
- Online bulletin boards and chat rooms
- All food is privately delivered to your door in 3-5 days
NutriSystem - Claims
- Balanced diet.
- You don't have to cook much.
- Easy to follow.
- Quick weight loss.
- Friendly support via the web.
- Teaches portion control.
NutriSystem - Drawbacks
Once the diet program ends, you need to learn how to maintain your
weight loss without the prepackaged foods. Also, while you may not
have to cook for yourself, you may still have to cook for your
family.
NutriSystem - Summary
Not recommended for the average dieter, because of the cost.
However, if you have the money and are prepared to learn how to
maintain your weight loss by making the right food and cooking
choices once the diet program is over, then NutriSystem will work
for you.
