Somersizing
Suzanne Somers Diet Review
Somersizing was created by Suzanne Somers. The Suzanne Somers Diet
is a mixture of food combining and a low carb/high protein plan.
Somers has several diet books published and each new book adds
updated information to the diet plan, although her latest ideas
appear to contradict some of her earlier diet recommendations.
If you are interested in food combining and low-carb eating, you
may wish to find out more about Suzanne Somers and Somersizing.
She has become a weight loss celebrity and some dieters swear by
her methods. Nevertheless, if you are interested in losing weight
you should note the following flaws in the presentation of her
diet program.
First, there is no clinical evidence to support the idea that food
combining causes weight loss.
Second, Somers assertion - that when proteins and carbohydrates
are eaten together, their enzymes "cancel each other out," thus
creating a halt in the digestion process and causing weight gain -
is not true.**
Third, Somers' advice not to drink water with meals because it
dilutes the digestive juices and slows digestion is inaccurate.**
Fourth, Somers statement - that no reliable long-term studies have
shown any negative effects associated with increased fat
consumption - is not true.**
** According to the American Institute of Cancer Research
Suzanne Somers, Somersizing - Claims
Eat all the protein/fat you want.
Use cream.
Rich eating.
Good for weight loss.
Good for reducing refined sugar.
Suzanne Somers, Somersizing - Drawbacks
High protein diets encourage high fat consumption.
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that food-combining
assists weight loss.
Somers now seems to be uncertain whether carbs and protein may be
combined after all.
Suzanne Somers, Somersizing - Summary
Not recommended, due to lack of scientific/medical support. But if
you fancy something different, you may care to give it a try.
