Body Wraps
for Weight Loss
Body wraps are elastic-type bandages soaked in a variety of
solutions: e.g. amino acids, herbal extracts, and collagen
solutions. When applied to certain parts of the body, they are
typically supposed to offer a range of benefits, including weight
loss, fat reduction, skin tightening and skin toning. Prices range
from $50 to $200 per session.
The claims
There is no medical evidence that these body wraps produce weight
loss. Nor is there any evidence that they can reduce fat. Any
apparent benefits are likely to be both temporary and cosmetic.
Indeed, if you read the small print in the promotional literature,
you will see that lasting weight loss and fat reduction is
possible only by pursuing more orthodox dietary and exercise
methods. The only scientifically-proven method of firming,
tightening or lifting areas of your body, is regular exercise.
Verdict
You may enjoy the experience of body wrapping, but be aware that
it does not produce any lasting weight loss. Nor does it produce
any fat reduction. Nor does it produce any lasting difference to
the firmness of your body.
